In the year, 1973, eleven enthusiasts resolved to form Dumdum FOTO UNIT, an association dedicated to the art of photography. Since then for more than three decades the club has been contributing substantially to the growth of photography through its multifarious activities, particularly in the field of pictorial photography throughout the country.
Dumdum FOTO UNIT organises photographic salon of national and international level every year at Kolkata. Now it has become a permanent and widely appreciated feature of Kolkata`s art scenario. Since its inception Foto Unit has organized 15 International Salons at Kolkata. Now, FOTO UNIT has organised its 'First FU National Digital Salon ' in Kolkata, in February 2009.
